The 50-year-old actor plays Michael Morbius, a biochemist who has been working furiously. In order to find a cure for a rare blood ailment he has. But instead infects himself with an ancient kind of vampirism.

Leto’s role in the film Michael Morbius had been debilitated by this unusual blood disorder to the point where he needed crutches on a regular basis.

Even between takes, the method actor would stay in character, according to Ryan, who heard Leto was’so devoted’ to playing Morbius that he would ‘use his crutches and slowly hobble to the restroom.’
Ryan went on to say that it became an issue because ‘he was taking so long’ for bathroom breaks, which led to a deal to ‘get him a wheelchair so someone could wheel him there faster and he agreed to that.’
