Jennifer Aniston discusses her sleeplessness and mental health openly.
For years, the Friends alum has struggled with sleepwalking and sleep anxiety, eventually reaching a point where she doesn’t get any sleep at all.
“I suppose it started in my 30s or even earlier,” Aniston adds, “but you really don’t realise the affects of a lack of sleep when you’re younger because you’re so indestructible.” “It started out as something I just accepted, but then you realise the consequences of your lack of sleep and how it impacts your day, your career, your cognitive function, and your physical appearance.”
“And the more I think about it, the more difficult it is for me to go asleep,” she explains.
Aniston admits to sleepwalking on occasion back in the day.
“That is something I have been known to do. I was jolted awake by home alarms that I had put off. “At least there’s some silver lining,” she adds, adding, “I don’t believe I do that anymore – it was when I was very sleep deprived.” “to her inability to get a good night’s sleep
The actress went on to say that for years, she had prioritised her profession over her sleep.
“It became something with which I was truly grappling,” she adds. “It used to be last on the list, but you can’t really follow the three pillars of health — nutrition, exercise, and sleep — if you can’t really exercise or eat well if you haven’t slept well because your body clock is so utterly thrown off.”
Aniston is currently seeing a doctor about getting therapy for her sleeping troubles.
