Jennifer Lopez claims that in the early 2000s, critics ‘destroyed’ her romance with Ben Affleck

In a recent interview, Jennifer Lopez discussed her first romance with lover Ben Affleck, saying that critics ‘destroyed’ it.

JLo was open in an interview with Rolling Stone about how public criticism had a key factor in breaking her love affair with the Deep Water star back in the 2000s.

“It was a harrowing experience.” “It’s one of those things you bury deep so you can go on and get on with your life,” the Marry Me star explained.

“It’s weird because Ben and I were together, and we were really in love,” the actor-singer said. It was one of the most joyous periods of my life.”

“But there was also this other thing going on where we were being judged, and it really wrecked our relationship from the inside out,” the 52-year-old actress continued. “Because we were just too young to realise what the most essential things in life were at the time.””

The couple had previously been engaged in 2002, but had to split up two years later in 2004 after having to postpone their wedding owing to ‘excessive media attention.’
They were mocked and derided by satirical shows, and the singer’s Latin ancestry was insulted.

Lopez and Affleck, on the other hand, were given a second chance and revived their romance in 2021, getting engaged a year later.
