Johnny Depp & Amber Heard, ‘performance of life’ by Amber

In opening arguments of defamation case trial between former couple, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, Johnny Depp’s lawyers called Amber Heard a liar, she is “obsessed” with her image

Case was brought after an article by Amber where she claimed to be domestic abuse victim, but Amber’s team argued with Depp & brought her to court to “destroy her”.

Johnny denied about any abuse and he has sued his ex-wife for $50m (£38m). On the other side Amber has turn and sued him, with a $100m countersuit. During the trial Amber’s 2018 opinion piece in the Washington Post, where she is describing herself as  “public figure representing domestic abuse”. According to Depp the article which is not mentioned him by name is defamatory and it has sabotaged his career.

At first in a day of opening arguments, Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez, told judges Amber had always been aggressive throughout in their relationship. Depp’s lawyer said, Heard showcased herself as victim, Depp had asked her for split in attempt to “avoid humiliation”.

She told, “She is obsessed with her public image. She has been living and breathing this role for years now and she is preparing to give the performance of her life.”

Despite of than Amber’s Lawyers claimed that “The actress had endured emotional, verbal and physical harassment at the hands of Mr Depp.”

Her attorney Ben Rotenborn said, Depp wants to “haunt her, to wreck her career”,

Depp’s elder sister Christi Dembrowski, was first witness. While responding to questions from Depp’s attorney, she described a volatile childhood, shaped by their mother’s abuse.

“Mom would, she would scream, she would yell. She would hit [Dad], call him names, Depp never fought back,”

She described her brother as a gentle and loving brother, son and father to his two children.

She told, her brother’s nature changed when he had relationship with Amber. She said, “He seemed sadder,”

“Amber said, ‘Dior, why would Dior want to do business with you? You don’t have style… She called him an old fat man.”

She added, “If I’m honest, I debated going [to the wedding, I wanted to make sure that I showed up anyway, because I wanted to make sure, honestly, that my little brother knew I was going to be there no matter what.”

After trial, Amber gave statement in her Instagram, she wrote, she has “always maintained a love for Johnny”.

“It brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world,”
