Actor Johnny Depp finished his testimony in his defamation trial against Amber Heard in a Fairfax, Virginia court.

Depp was cross-examined by Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, on his fourth day on the stand.

He was questioned about audio recordings of his disputes with Heard, as well as whether she was the only one who had a problem with his alcoholism.

“Sir, if anyone ever had an issue with my drinking, it was me,” Depp said. “The only person I’ve ever abused is myself.”

After that, Depp stayed on the stand for redirect questioning from his attorney, Jessica Meyers.

Depp is suing his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for $50 million in retaliation for an op-ed she wrote for an International news website in 2018 in which she defined herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Despite the fact that Depp was not identified in the piece, he alleges it cost him lucrative acting jobs.

Heard and Depp, who met in 2009 and were married from 2015 to 2016, both accuse the other of physical aggression during their relationship.

They have each disputed the claims of the other.

The couple divorced in August 2016, issuing a joint statement that stated, in part, “Our relationship was incredibly passionate and at times tumultuous, but always connected by love.”

The trial, which began on April 11, is scheduled to run for six weeks. Heard has yet to testify.

Under a redirect from his attorney, Depp explained that several of the passages produced as evidence by Heard’s attorney were intended to be “irreverent” or based on Monty Python films.

Depp stated that he frequently uses comedy to deal with “tough or unpleasant situations.”

Depp testified that in order to de-escalate conflicts with Heard, he would leave the room or leave their home.

“No one deserves to live like that,” Depp remarked, characterizing their relationship as “horrific” near the end.

Meyers presented a video from 2016 of a discussion between Heard and Depp in which Heard expressed concern about restoring her reputation following press rumors of abuse in their relationship.

“When Ms. Heard said, ‘Tell the world, Johnny,’ what did you say? Tell them, Johnny Depp, I’m a male, and I, too, am a victim of domestic violence?” Meyers enquired of Depp.
