Kate Middleton shares sweet moment with nurse who delivered Charlotte
When Princess Royal and the Duchess of Cambridge visit the Royal College of Midwives and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London today, they will be joining forces for the first time.
The match was reportedly requested from the “very top,” and fans are keen to watch how the two well-known royals interact in public.
Kate, a patron of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), and Princess Anne, a patron of the Royal College of Midwives, will meet with numerous members of staff and learn about advancements to maternal care during the engagement.
The ceremony today will undoubtedly be compared to The Duchess of Cambridge’s visit to the RCOG in 2018 when she spotted a familiar face in the crowd.
Kate, who was seven months pregnant at the time with Prince Louis, spotted Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, the midwife who assisted in the delivery of Princess Charlotte at St Mary’s Hospital in 2015, and gave her a big hug.
The Countess of Wessex, like the Duchess of Cambridge, was overcome with emotion when she was reunited with her midwife Sophie in 2014.
In 2014, the Countess visited Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey to open their new neonatal ward, and she was visibly moved when she hugged Adrienne Price, the Head of Midwifery.
Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, Sophie’s two children, were born at the hospital in 2003 and 2007. She had previously had an ectopic pregnancy in 2002 and was on the verge of passing away when she gave birth to her daughter the following year.
