Kerry Katona says that Will has always been ‘lovely’ at certain turns in showbiz life but last week’s Oscar incident has raised her level of disappointment for his contentious behavior.
Kerry Katona has recently revealed about her secret friendship with Will Smith and wishes that instead of slapping Chris Rock, Will should have chosen a more sensible manner to resolve the matter.
The 41-year old star lately told that she has met the 53-year old Oscar winner Will Smith a number of times during their showbiz career and that Will has always been ‘lovely’ with her but recently she finds herself disappointed in her showbiz friend since he slapped 57-year old Chris Rock at the last month’s Oscar Ceremony in annoyance to an unwise joke about his 50-year old wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Kerry believes that apart from creating violence, he should have had a friendly chat with Chris after Chris pointed out about ‘Jada Pinkett’s alopecia’.
In her column for OK, Kerry disclosed some surprising facts about her friendship with Will. She wrote,” I adore Will – I feel like he’s been a massive inspiration to me. I’ve met him several times. We were on Jonathan Ross’s show together and he was the loveliest guy”.
Furthermore, she wrote about how upset she is over Will after the incident. “But I think it’s wrong that he slapped Chris. I don’t condone violence. His Oscar is for his work ethic and talent as an actor but, sadly, it has been overshadowed”, she added.
She also advised Smith that although he was supporting Jada, he should have resolved the matter off-cameras.
Will came into limelight after slapping the host of Oscar’s event Chris Rock on 27 March in front of a high profile crowd and cameras. Since then he has resigned from the academy and expressed regret over his actions with Chris.
In his resignation letter Will mentions about how deeply he feels apologetic for ruining the night for other nominees and stars which was meant for celebration. He gave up the membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and is willing to accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.
The Academy on the other hand says that the issue is going to be investigated properly and that Will also might have to give up his best actor award he received for his performance as Richard Williams in the famous biopic King Richard.
Whereas, a thread of expected future projects with Netflix and Sony have been cancelled taking into consideration Will’s contended actions. While the plans of creating his biopic also seem at risk as Hollywood responds to the slapping incident.
