For a former flight attendant who is now a full-time content creator with over a million followers, the sky is the limit.

He went from working as a flight attendant throughout the world to being a full-time TikTok celebrity with over a million fans impatiently awaiting his next video. For Mohib Sheraz, the sky was indeed the limit.

The 28-year-old loves to promote Birmingham in his work, and his large following loves it, whether it’s the chance to win £200 by making him laugh or fist-bumping for chocolate in the video that made him famous. It’s safe to say that taking the risk of quitting his job at Emirates last year paid off.

TikToker is now one of the most popular producers on the platform. Mohib has 1.1 million followers on TikTok and a total of 17 million likes, but he had to overcome obstacles to get there. He won’t say how much he makes, but this is how he’s been paying his expenses since January 2021

“I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I believed in myself, as corny as it may seem – I like to push myself to the edge and see what I can do.” Some people didn’t get it at first, and some still don’t, but I told myself I’d make it work.”

Mohib reveals that his drive to create social media material wasn’t only for himself, but also for Birmingham, where he grew up. “I also wanted to build a name for myself in Birmingham,” he explains.

“A lot of creatives leave the city and end up promoting their new home, which is wonderful, but I want it to be recognised that Birmingham’s creative environment is equally worth promoting.”

“Birmingham generally has a terrible rap, and people are always making fun of the accent, so I want to highlight the positive aspects of the city. There are several excellent aspects of the city, as well as positive things emanating from the city.”

Mohib wasn’t always the outgoing personality depicted in his videos. He was known as the cheeky quiet one throughout his youth, but he always showed respect for others, something he is enthusiastic about displaying in his art.

In 2021, his ‘Fist bump to win a chocolate’ video became viral on TikTok, garnering 31 million views. It was a watershed event for him, as he had been creating material since his undergraduate days.

“I wasn’t expecting the video to become as viral as it did,” Mohib says. “With my other films, I’ve gotten a few million here and there, but nothing on that magnitude.”

“I had been out filming for something else but felt like the day’s job wasn’t done, so as I was grabbing snacks at a store, I noticed the box of chocolate and thought, ‘Yeah, that’s my next idea.'”

He now posts material every day, bringing a smile to the faces of Brummies he meets and those who watch from across the world. But he argues that his art is about more than just making people laugh. Mohib is dedicated to creating positive and uplifting material that not only represents his principles but also contributes to the greater good.

He stood blindfolded in one video to stress the significance of mental health, carrying a card that read, ‘Hug me if you feel alone.’ “So many people are going through tough times in their lives,” he adds, “and it’s critical that we all strive a bit more to be nice and courteous to one another.”

“There are days when I don’t want to do the job, but I remind myself that I am fortunate and that I am not doing this for myself.” His £200 cash giveaways are extremely popular on his account, and he explains that he doesn’t have to jump through any hoops to win.

“The only reason I do this is to offer joy to the world.” My tiny method of bringing joy into people’s lives is to make them laugh and earn £200.

“I’m extremely conscious of where I’m at, Allahumdulillah, and I’m grateful every day – therefore I try to share what I’ve been given with others.”
