Rachel Zegler: Being asked about ansel elgort’s alleged assault

Rachel Anne Zegler is an actress and singer from the United States. She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her role as Maria Vasquez in the musical drama West Side Story, making her the first actress of Colombian heritage and the youngest recipient at the age of 20.

Rachel Zegler told Elle magazine that questions about Ansel Elgort’s alleged sexual assault often overshadowed her press tour for West Side Story. Elgort was charged in June 2020 with sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl in 2014.

“It was a real gut punch, honestly,” Zegler told the outlet. “I reverted back to this brain space I was in [back in] June of 2020, when the accusation surfaced. We were in the middle of the first wave of lockdown, and there was nothing to do but doom-scroll. Those days were some of the worst mental health days I’ve ever had.”
