Rihanna opens up on having a baby with A$AP – Rocky – “I wouldn’t say planning but certainly not planning against it”

Rihanna, the Hollywood popstar, continues to stir heads with her wild maternity style as she posed for the new Vogue cover story. In an emotional interview with Vogue magazine for its May 2022 edition, the expectant mother-to-be spoke up about her relationship with husband A$AP Rocky and discussed all things pregnancy and fashion.

“I’m hopeful we were able to redefine what’s deemed ‘acceptable’ for pregnant ladies,” the fashion designer told Vogue. “Right now, my body is doing wonderful things, and I’m not going to be embarrassed of it.” This should be a happy time. Because why should you keep your pregnancy a secret?” Rihanna spoke out about expecting her first kid with A$AP Rocky and what she’s looking forward to (and not looking forward to) as a mother.

“None of the dials are turned down,” she said of her new existence to Vogue, adding, “I believe I say yes to more now because I know it will be different on the other side of this.” “At first, I imagined some sort of magical transformation, but I’m still the same person,” she explained. “I was bracing myself for something outrageous because I knew I wouldn’t be able to utilise my typical coping mechanism: I can’t just go and smoke a joint right now,” she adds. “But I was pleasantly delighted that I was able to handle,” she said, referring to her steamy photoshoot in which she flaunted her baby bulge. According to Vogue, she hasn’t had morning sickness and has been able to deal with mood swings more easily.

“As much as it’s happening, it’s also not happening,” she said of her pregnancy. “Sometimes I’ll walk past my reflection and be like, ‘Oh shit!’” And as for whether she and Rocky were planning to have a baby, she suggests they weren’t that calculating. “I wouldn’t say planning. But certainly not planning against it. I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that type of shit. We just had fun,” she told Vogue. “And then it was just there on the test. I didn’t waste any time. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor’s office the next morning and our journey began.”

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were friends long before they started dating, but the Savage X Fenty creator admitted that the shift was difficult for her. “People don’t go out of the friend zone with me very quickly,” Rihanna said in the new cover story. “And it took a bit for me to get over how much I knew him and how much he knows me, because we also know how much trouble we can put each other in,” she continued, explaining how the two became closer during the early days of the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020.

According to Vogue, as the couple prepares for their new life as parents, Rocky has met Rihanna’s mother, who swiftly warmed to him, and they have discussed where they would raise their child and who will assist them. “Rocky just asked me whether I had a fantasy spot [to raise their child], and if so, where would it be?” I told him to come home, Barbados. That’s how I always pictured it. But, practically, it’s unlikely,” admitted the “Diamonds” singer.

“Balance is one of my biggest challenges and always has been,” she said talking about how she’ll be able to balance being a mother and her many business pursuits. “And now there’s another human being coming into play, it changes what that means again. Still, I have businesses that aren’t going to run themselves. My mom handled the three of us with not even close to the amount of resources that I have, so I can absolutely do it. What it looks like? I’m not sure.”

The “Umbrella” singer also addressed speculations regarding her upcoming song and offered a tease saying, “I’m looking at my next project completely differently from the way I had wanted to put it out before. I think this way suits me better, a lot better. It’s authentic, it’ll be fun for me, and it takes a lot of the pressure off.”
