Rose Leslie of Game of Thrones discusses parenthood with Kit Harington

The Scottish actress has been married to Kit since 2018, and the couple welcomed their first child together in February of last year — a son whose name has remained a secret.

Rose Leslie has opened up about her family life with fans, revealing details about her marriage to Kit Harington and how they raise their small boy.

The 35-year-old Scottish actress has been married to Kit since 2018, after their jobs on the hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones brought them together.

Rose and her 35-year-old husband became parents for the first time in February when they welcomed their baby, whose name they have chosen to keep a well guarded secret.

However, the former Downton Abbey star has spoken about how she and Kit came to a ‘glorious’ agreement when it came to raising their kid and who gets up in the middle of the night to tend to the baby’s needs.

Opening up to the UK edition of Harper’s Bazaar, Rose said: “He (Kit) wore the BabyBjorn (baby carrier) loud and proud.

“And there were many satisfying moments; we had an understanding that, when our son cried in the middle of the night, it was on Kit to go and look after him, as I would have to wake up early to work – it was kind of glorious.”

Rose did confess that it was difficult for her to leave her son at home when she had to wake up and go to work.

She told the magazine: “I remember finding it very brutal, being wrenched away from him.

“There were parts of me that doubted whether I would be able to see it through for six months. It was so tough.”

Kit himself previously opened up about his new life as a father, telling People magazine: “I think the thing that’s surprised me most is, you know, they tell you but they don’t; everyone goes, ‘Look, it’s big. What you’re about to go through is big.’ And you have no way of knowing that until it happens.

“Then what surprises you is you go, ‘Oh, this goes on forever!’ You don’t get a break from it. You’re just like … every day I wake up and look after this little human and now we’re part of a unit together.

“You are now a unit, the three of you.”

That’s a whole new dynamic you need to find, and pretty much find every day as he grows and changes, and how does that change you? It’s a beautiful thing, it really is.”

While Rose and Kit are both plainly proud parents, the former has stated that she will not nanny Kit because of his past difficulties with addiction.

Rose explained to Harper’s Bazaar: “I’ve learnt a lot about addiction and it’s something Kit is forever going to be aware of, but it’s on him whether he chooses to drink again.

“No amount of nannying is going to be able to stop him from doing what he decides to do… I don’t choose to put that pressure on myself.

“The responsibility of his behaviour is on him. It’s not on me to guard him from it.”
