Sean Penn and his former wife Leila George have finalised their divorce

Six months after Leila George filed for divorce, Sean Penn and his estranged wife are formally divorced.

According to records acquired by TMZ, a court completed the Mystic River actor’s divorce from George, implying that the situation has finally been resolved.

Penn began dating the Australian-American actor in 2016, and the two married in 2020, four years later.

The 61-year-old actor, who is 31 years younger than The Kid, recently confessed that he still loves his ex-wife despite admitting that he broke up their marriage.

“There’s a woman I’m so in love with, Leila George, who I only see on a day-to-day basis now, since I (expletive) destroyed the marriage,” he told Hollywood Authentic.

“We were formally married for one year, but I was a terribly negligent man for five years,” Penn remarked.

“I know that this is my closest buddy in the world and undoubtedly the most inspirational, inspiring person, outside of my own blood, that anyone could ask to have in their life,” the actor said.

Penn also said that he has changed since his divorce from his long-term partner, and that he now prioritises the people that matter most to him.
