Wheaton, Wil Jerry O’Connell’s Apology for Being Unaware of Childhood Trauma: ‘You Were 11’ moved me

Jerry O’Connell is saying ‘sorry’ to Wil Wheaton for “not being there something else for” him while they were shooting 1986’s Stand By Me as children.

On Thursday’s episode of The Talk, O’Connell, 48, addressed Wheaton’s past cases that his folks “constrained” him into going about as a kid, and that he went through “psychological mistreatment” and “control” from his folks.

“I heard before you talk about a portion of the battles you were going through during Stand by Me, and you know, while I was 11 at that point, that is a reason,” O’Connell told Wheaton, 49, on The Talk. “I would like to apologize for not being there something else for you when you were more youthful.”

“To the master plan, no one can tell what somebody is going through when that is no joke,” he added. “I don’t feel responsibility, yet I simply needed to say I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you more.”
