Amber Heard appears as a witness in Johnny Depp’s libel claim

After three weeks of quiet, Amber Heard took the stand on Wednesday in ex-husband Johnny Depp’s libel action to give her side of the tale.

“I am here because my ex-husband is suing me over an op-ed I published,” the actress told Virginia jurors.

In a countersuit she filed against him, she answered at least some of his charges. “I’m at a loss for words to convey how horrible this is.”

“It’s dreadful for me to sit here for weeks and relive everything,” she added shortly after, adding, “This is the most painful and difficult thing I’ve ever gone through, for sure.”

As the actress began her evidence, a sunglasses-clad Johnny Depp sat just feet away, refusing to look at his ex-wife and instead doodling on his seat.

Amber Herd has been under fire from ex-husband Johnny Depp fans after the actress was branded as an aggressive manipulator by Johnny Depp and people close to him.

The evidence came during the fourth week of the civil trial, which was centred on Depp’s claim that Heard “devastated” his career with a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she identified herself as a domestic abuse survivor. Amber Heard has disputed the claims and counter-sued her ex-husband for $100 million after one of his ex-attorneys said her tale was a “hoax.”

Earlier in the trial, Johnny Depp testified for four days that he never struck his ex-wife Amber Heard and that he was the abuse victim. He said she hit and assaulted him on many occasions, and that she hurled objects at him. Heard, he said, had a “thirst for conflict.”
