The actress Amber Heard has stated that she is unsure if she will appear in the final cut of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In the Aquaman trilogy, Heard plays Mera, a figure who first appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and continues in James Wan’s solo film.
Heard, on the other hand, is now through a month-long defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp. Heard has spoken about her role in Aquaman 2 several times throughout the trial, giving new details about her involvement in the sequel. According to CBS News, Heard has now provided further details on her return to Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, revealing that she was originally released from her contract prior to filming.
Heard later clarified her involvement in the sequel, saying she’s not sure if she’ll be in it at all, stated, “They released me from my contract. And, I fought to stay in it, and they kept me in it; I just don’t know how much I’m in, actually, of the final cut.”
Added, “I don’t know if I will even be in the final cut or how much I will be. It was difficult to stay in the movie.”
Since her and Depp’s divorce and ensuing legal fights, much has been made of Heard’s position in the Aquaman series. 4.2 million people have signed a petition to have Heard removed from Aquaman 2. Her friendship with Momoa was also said to have influenced her decision to return for the sequel.
As a result of their legal troubles, Depp has lost roles as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts picture and Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. While Amber Heard’s involvement in Aquaman 2 was never in doubt, her court evidence implies otherwise, particularly the part about being released from her contract before the film began.
