Saban Films has acquired international distribution rights to John Travolta’s new action film American Metal, which also stars Stephen Dorff (Blade, Immortals), Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead), Ashley Benson (Spring Breakers), and Kevin Dillon (Platoon, The Doors, Entourage).
Nicholas Maggio, a writer and first-time feature filmmaker, presents the story of a desperate and suffering family man who robs a pill mill. When the robbery becomes violent, he is pursued by both the police and the Dixieland mafia.
Corey Large (The November Man, Kid Cannibis, Paradise City) and Bernie Gewissler (Dead Hipsters, Midnight in the Switchgrass) of 308 Entertainment collaborated with Bondit Media Capital to create American Metal. The picture is 308 Entertainment’s second collaboration with Travolta and Dorff, following the upcoming Saban film Paradise City.
American Metal has concluded principal photography in Georgia, with Saban Films anticipating a 2023 release.
ICM Partners represents Travolta, Dorff, and Benson. Fernandez is represented by Untitled Entertainment. Scott Karp of Syndicate represents Large. Saban Films’ Shanan Becker and Bill Bromiley, Bondit Media Capital’s Matthew Helderman, and producer Corey Large negotiated the agreement.
The real-life WWII spy thriller Lives in Secret, starring Hugh Bonneville and Charlotte Gainsbourg; Ana Lily Amirpour’s Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, starring Kate Hudson and Jeon Jong-seo; Brett Donowho’s western The Old Way, starring Nicolas Cage; and Adam Sigal’s reincarnation dark comedy Chariot, starring John Malkovich were all recently acquired by Saban Films.
