Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness contains the following spoilers, Here’s a rundown of all the unexpected cameos from prior Marvel films in Benedict Cumberbatch’s film.
This Friday, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released. The Marvel film, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen, was eagerly anticipated not only because of its size but also because of the buzz surrounding it. There were rumours of several celebrity cameos in the film because it deals with the concept of the universe. Marvel Studios remained tight-lipped about which of the rumours were accurate and which were not until the very end. This is something spectators only discovered after seeing it in theatres.
Doctor Strange 2, like Spider-Man: No Way Home, deals with the concept of variants and the universe, thus there’s a chance that multiple actors will appear in cameo roles, either as variations of current characters or reprising roles from previous franchises. Many of these rumours were false, but a few were true. While Tom Cruise was not in attendance as Superior Iron Man, Hayley Atwell reprised her role as Captain Carter from the animated series What If…?
The cameos occur in the film when Strange (Benedict) and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) go from the MCU’s Earth to Earth-838, a parallel universe. The two are apprehended by the Illuminati, a hidden society of superheroes. The presence of the Illuminati was hinted to in the film’s teasers and TV commercials prior to its release, but its entire makeup was revealed until thereafter. A look at all of Doctor Strange’s surprise cameos in the Multiverse of Madness.
