Katy Perry is in need of ‘therapy’ after she covered ex-boyfriend John Mayer on American Idol
Indeed, “Heartbreak Warfare.”
During a song challenge on “American Idol,” Katy Perry had a humorous reaction to a Top 11 participant.
The participants competed in a “Judges’ Song Contest,” in which each contestant chose one of three songs to sing and had to guess which judge chose the song.
Noah Thompson was chosen to perform “Heartbreak Warfare,” a song by John Mayer released in 2009. The Kentucky contestant, 20, then told host Ryan Seacrest that Perry had chosen the song for him. “I picked Katy,” Thompson remarked, oblivious to the fact that Mayer and Perry had dated. “But, to be honest, I’m not sure.” Katy was my choice. That was my educated guess.”
Shaking her head in disbelief, Perry responded: “Noah … I feel like maybe you should Wikipedia me,” the “Teenage Dream” singer said awkwardly.
“That’s a big no then?” Thompson joked.
Perry hilariously yelled “I’m triggered!” before sliding out of her chair onto the floor in embarrassment. “It’s a great song, you did great, but I can’t talk anymore,” the singer, 37, laughed.

When it was finally revealed that Luke Bryan chose the song for Thompson, Perry asked, “Who is going to pay for my extra hour of therapy?”
