Pete Davidson is expected to leave ‘SNL’ this week, according to reports
Pete Davidson will reportedly be leaving “Saturday Night Live” this week after eight years on NBC’s iconic sketch comedy show.
The “King of Staten Island” star, 28, is likely to make his grand farewell after this Saturday’s Season 47 finale, which will be hosted by Natasha Lyonne, according to a person familiar with the situation.
According to the website, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney will also be leaving.
“SNL” and Davidson’s representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
At the age of 20, the standup comedian became one of the youngest cast members of the long-running series when he joined in 2014.
With famous guest appearances on “Weekend Update,” movie parts, Netflix specials, and a slew of high-profile relationships, including his most recent with Kim Kardashian, he shot to fame.
Davidson, on the other hand, has been throwing signals that he’s ready to leave the show for a time.
He told Charlamagne Tha God in February 2020 that he had been “having conversations” about leaving the show, but he wasn’t sure since he didn’t want to “leave too early.”
After Davidson informed The Hollywood Reporter that he was ready to “hang up the jersey,” fans suspected that Season 46 might be his final season.
“Yeah, I’m good. I’m surprised I made it to seven [seasons],” he said in May 2021.
The allegations were reinforced even further by Davidson’s passionate remarks during the Season 46 finale.
“I’m very grateful to be here,” he said at the time. “It’s been an honor to grow up in front of you guys.”
“I can’t believe I’m back,” he said during a “Weekend Update” segment in October 2021, when the current season of “SNL” premiered.
