As she lauded her Countdown replacement Colin Murray, Rachel Riley appeared to make a subtle dig at Anne Robinson.
Following Anne’s departure from the Channel 4 series last week, the Irish presenter was named as her replacement.
Rachel responded to a Colin admirer on Twitter who gushed over his new job.
They wrote, “Wow hope he stays forever. He has great charisma and is such a lovely bloke. Well done Colin can’t wait.
“Come on @C4Countdown keep him permanently.”
Maths whizz Rachel, agreed and told, “Such a lovely reaction to Colin being back, a pretty universal sentiment!”
While Rachel looked to be on Cloud Nine as she flashed a huge smile at waiting photographers, week after Anne Robinson quit the Channel 4 show.
It comes after Anne, 77, startled fans by announcing her departure from The Weakest Link less than a year after replacing Nick Hewer as Countdown’s first female host.
Since taking over for former host Nick Hewer in June of last year, Rachel is claimed to have been annoyed by Anne’s diva demands, according to The Sun.
Anne, the show’s first female host, ruffled some feathers when she insisted on having her own make-up artist and stylist.
The Weakest Link host left the Channel 4 show after just one year on the job, months after The Sun reported her conflict with co-star Rachel.
Colin will now temporarily host the popular game program.
Following his departure from the BBC quiz show Pointless in April, Richard Osman was touted as Anne’s replacement.
However, now that he’s ruled himself out of the race, radio DJ Colin may decide to make his stand-in gig permanent.
