Tom Parker’s bandmates from The Wanted will assist raise his children, according to his widow Kelsey.
Kelsey Parker, 32, has spoken up about how the cast of The Wanted has been a huge help to Tom since he was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago, and she wants them to be included in her children’s lives as well.
Kelsey Parker, Tom Parker’s widow, has stated that his bandmates will assist him in raising his two children.
Kelsey, 32, has spoken out about how The Wanted stars have been a huge help to Tom since his brain cancer diagnosis two years ago, and she wants them to be included in her daughter and son’s lives as well.
Tom died in March at the age of 33, just 18 months after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
Jay McGuinness, 31, had moved into their house during Tom’s final days to help care for their children, two-year-old Aurelia and 18-month-old Bodhi, so she could see Tom at the hospice, she explained.
The mum told The Sun: “Jay stayed with us. He was upstairs in the loft room, just so I knew he was there.”
She said of Tom’s bandmates Jay, Max George (33), Siva Kaneswaran (33) and Nathan Sykes (29): “They’re a massive part of our lives and always have been. They are role models for the kids too, so I want them to come over and have their input in their lives and to tell them stories about their dad.”
Kelsey added that the singers knew stories about Tom that she didn’t, and that when Bodhi gets older, he’ll want to know more about his father.
She added: “They will always be there for us.”
Kelsey described Tom’s final moments as “beautiful till the very end,” recalling holding his hand as he died.
Kelsey claimed that she climbed into bed with him and stayed with him for two hours because she needed that time with him.
“I didn’t want anyone coming in,” she said. “We needed that time together to talk.”
Even though they were in a hospice together, Kelsey characterised it as “romantic” and that Tom has always been “so romantic, loving, and caring.”
“Daddy has come to visit,” Kelsey captioned a heartwarming photo of her daughter Aurelia holding a feather on Instagram.
Tom had vowed to send her signs every day before he died, she revealed.
When a feather dropped from the sky, the mother recalled sitting on a bench crying.
Kelsey said: “I said to Tom before he passed away, ‘Will you give me signs every day’, and he said, ‘Yes’. I knew straight away it was him.
“I kept that feather, I still have it in a little glass pot on my dressing table.”
Following her husband’s burial last week, Kelsey published a beautiful message on her Instagram stories.
She said: “Grief may feel like the dying of the soul while the body still lives, but you are alive my friend.
“And they are not, nor do they want you to be with them just yet. They very much want you to live.”
The poem continued: “Do not fear the grief you feel, it’s just love thrashing around, looking for somewhere to go. So give it somewhere to go.”
The poem was titled ‘I Wish I Knew’ by Donna Ashworth, according to the post’s conclusion.
Tom’s funeral was place on April 20 in Petts Wood, south east London, at St Francis of Assisi Church.
As the ceremony was shown on screens, fans were asked to line the streets and be greeted outside the cathedral.
The pallbearers were Tom’s The Wanted comrades Max, Siva, Nathan, and Jay.
Kelsey named Tom her “soulmate” and that he had “taught their children how to be brave” in a pre-recorded eulogy at the service, which brought the congregation to tears.
“If love alone could have saved him,” she concluded, the boy band star would still be alive today.
