Will Smith was absent from an event promoting his new programme Bel-Air, as he continues to keep a low profile in the aftermath of his stunning Oscars smack.

Smith, 53, was not seen on the red carpet at the NBCU FYC House ‘Bel Air’ event Tuesday in Los Angeles, despite starring in the original series and working as an executive producer on the new relaunch.

The new Bel-Air series was created by Smith and Morgan Cooper, whose fan film Bel-Air went viral in March 2019 and led to the new series, which premiered on Peacock on February 13th.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is based on the original series, which is set in modern-day America and offers a “fresh, dramatic take on Will’s difficult journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.”

Banks plays the new Will, who is torn from his inner city life and flown to Bel-Air to live with his aunt Vivian (Freeman) and uncle Phil (Holmes).

Carlton Banks is played by Olly Sholotan, Hilary Banks is played by Jones, Ashley Banks is played by Akbar, Geoffrey is played by Akingbola, and Jazz is played by Jordan L. Jones.

Smith attended the premiere with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith and son Jaden in February.

In March, the actor made headlines when he punched Chris Rock on stage at the Academy Awards after the comedian made a joke about Jada’s shaved head. The Matrix Revolutions star has alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss.

Smith survived the slap and went on to win his first Academy Award for his lead role in King Richard, but he soon suffered repercussions within the Academy.

The actor resigned from the organisation, which means he will no longer be able to vote for awards. He was also banned from all Academy activities for a decade, which means he will be unable to attend the ceremony during that time, but he can still be nominated or win an award during that time.

After the event, the star apologised to Rock on social media.

Following the event, Smith has kept a quiet profile, though he did travel to Mumbai, India, last month to focus on spirituality, yoga, and meditation, according to People.

Smith said that while on ayahuasca, he had a vision of himself losing his job and money during an appearance on David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, which was taped prior to the Oscars.
