Los Angeles: Actor Alec Baldwin made the announcement that he and disgraced comic and director Woody Allen would have a live Instagram conversation.

Baldwin, who was at the centre of a scandal after a cameraman was fatally shot last year on a movie set by a gun Baldwin was holding, declared: “I have ZERO INTEREST in anyone’s judgments and sanctimonious posts here.”

The interview is scheduled for Tuesday and was only days after the publication of Allen’s most recent book, “Zero Gravity,” which has been dogged by claims for decades.

Baldwin said in a message that was posted with a brief video promoting the discussion, in which he was seen holding up a copy of Allen’s latest book, “I am OBVIOUSLY someone who has my own set of views and COULD NOT CARE LESS about anyone else’s supposition.”

The post received more than 1,000 responses, many of them negative, in less than 24 hours. “I’ve always had your back, no matter what. Woody Allen, though? Bye” wrote one follower.

Baldwin, 64, referred to the HBO documentary “Allen vs. Farrow,” which premiered on the streaming service in 2021 and painted Allen in a negative light, and said, “If you believe that a trial should be conducted by way of an HBO documentary, that’s your concern.”

In his video, a beaming Baldwin said, “I love you, Woody.”

After fatally shooting his director of photography while practising a scene for his film “Rust,” Baldwin has spent several months in the centre of the controversy.
