Johnny Depp’s lawyer: Amber Heard may not have to pay $10.35 million

• A jury found in his favour in his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard.

• According to Johnny’s lawyer, He said that the trial was not about money for Johnny.

The defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp lasted about six weeks in Virginia, United States, in April-May 2022. Johnny was granted compensatory damages of $10 million and punitive damages of $5 million. Amber, on the other hand, was given compensatory damages of $2 million.

On Wednesday, George Stephanopoulos of Good Morning America asked Johnny’s lawyer Benjamin Chew if he would agree to a settlement in which Amber agrees not to appeal the case in exchange for “him waiving monetary damages,” and Benjamin intimated that this may happen.

Benjamin said on the show, “We obviously can’t disclose any attorney-client communications, but as Mr. Depp testified and as we both made clear in our respective closings, this was never about money for him,” added, “This was about restoring his reputation, and he’s done that.”

On the other hand, during an interview with American television, Johnny Depp’s attorney Benjamin Chew said that Amber Heard did not accept responsibility for anything.

The lawyers explained why the jury rejected Amber Heard’s accusations. In answer to the host’s query concerning the actress’ accusations, Chew stated, “My feeling is that it had a lot to do with accountability.”

“Johnny owned his difficulties,” the lawyer continued. He was open about his booze and drug problems. He was open about certain regrettable texts he authored.”
