Doja Cat is the top nominee when BET Awards return on Sunday

Doja Cat, Drake, and Ari Lennox could win awards during the live BET Awards broadcast on Sunday.

With six nominations, Doja Cat begins the competition in first place. For her No. 1 song “Planet Her,” the top-charting singer is nominated for best female R&B-pop artist, best female hip-hop artist, album of the year, and BET Her for “Woman.” She and SZA are nominated for outstanding collaboration and video of the year for their song “Kiss Me More.”

The program will be hosted by Taraji P. Henson from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

One of the ceremony’s biggest accolades, the Lifetime Achievement Award, will go to Sean “Diddy” Combs. The three-time Grammy winner and music tycoon founded Bad Boy Records, has his own television network, fashion brand, and has collaborated with a number of notable performers, including Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Usher, Lil Kim, Faith Evans, and 112.

With four nominations each, Drake and Ari Lennox are the second-most nominated acts. Other artists like Baby Keem, Silk Sonic, Chloe Bailey, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Ye (previously Kanye West), Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige, and Tems also received three nominations.

Lil Wayne, Chance the Rapper, Ella Mai, Roddy Ricch, Lizzo, and Kirk Franklin are some of the artists who perform.

BET’s Voting Academy, made up of industry insiders and fans of entertainment, will choose the winners in the 19 categories, which include movie and sports honors.
