Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, an unforgettable movie that has set major romance...
Several visitors visit all of the areas in Udaipur where the movie was shot.
Octopussy, a Hollywood blockbuster British espionage thriller and the twelfth instalment in the James Bond franchise, was released in 1983. Roger Moore, Kabir Bedi, and Vijay Amritraj, a former Indian tennis star, appeared in the film. Udaipur was used for several of the film’s scenes.
Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) was directed by Shah Rukh Khan and released in 1995. It was the year’s highest-grossing Indian picture, and it went on to become one of India’s most successful films ever. It’s been almost 30 years, and the film is still being played every evening in roughly 25 cafés near Lake Pichola to attract tourists. It is being screened for free in rooftop restaurants and cafés along the banks of Lake Pichola.
Manoj Pareek, the manager of Ashiana Café, was reported in the Deccan Herald as stating, “For last 20 years, I am screening the movie. Tourists come here every day to enjoy the movie over a couple of drinks. For them, it’s a wonderful experience that takes them to the 1980s when the entire crew camped in Udaipur to shoot the movie (James Bond: Octopussy). Mostly foreigners come here to watch the movie and the number of domestic tourists has always been negligible.”

Karan Rathore, owner of Sunrise Restaurant and Café, remarked, “Many times the café is overcrowded with tourists while sometimes the film is screened for hardly one or two. But once we start the movie it is never interrupted even if a big group of tourists express their wish to see it from the beginning.”
A large number of people visit all of the filming locations in Udaipur. Tourists are frequently told about events that occurred three decades ago by tour guides in the ancient city. Brajraj Singh, a tourist guide, explained, “First you see the location in the movie and then you see them, in reality, the next day. It’s a thrilling experience. After watching the movie, a maximum number of tourists want to visit the market area near Jagdish Mandir where James Bond is chased by Kabir in an autorickshaw and Vijay Amritraj helps the Bond to escape.”
