
Jennifer Lopez says she’s thinking about leaving show business because of body-shaming trolls
- Ben Affleck’s girlfriend spoke up about her personal and professional life in the new Jennifer Lopez documentary, which spans little over 90 minutes.
- The new Netflix documentary Halftime, chronicling Lopez’s life and career, is now available on the site, and fans are amazed by how open the superstar is throughout.
The singer and actor also talked about her romance with Affleck, her time as a judge on American Idol, her Super Bowl performance with Shakira, her almost-Oscar for her role in Hustlers, and more.
Jennifer also discusses how criticisms about her curvaceous figure have affected her over the years, maybe most frankly.

At one point in the documentary, she admits that the criticism directed at her physique was so strong that she considered leaving show business.
“There were numerous occasions when I just thought, ‘I believe I’m going to stop,'” she says in the film. “I had to truly figure out who I was, and I believe in that more than anything else.”
She received a lot of flak for her performance in Selena in 1997, which was the first time a Latina actor earned $1 million in a film.

“When I first started working, the beauty ideal was very skinny, blonde, tall, with little curves,” Jennifer says in the documentary. “I grew up among curvy people, so it was never anything I was ashamed of. It’s difficult when you believe you’re a joke, a punchline. However, it ended up having an unintended consequence.”
