- The Joker is returning, and he’s bringing a pal with him.
- Lady Gaga is in early talks to appear in the sequel to Joker Joaquin Phoenix has yet to commit to the role.
- The movie will be called Joker: Folie à deux, which means a similar or comparable mental condition.
The Lady Gaga character’s identity is being kept under wraps, although Joker is renowned for his on-again, off-again violent relationship with Harley Quinn, his psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, who falls in love with him and becomes his sidekick and partner in crime. It’s unclear whether Phillips and the team are employing additional DC characters or going alone, as they did in many situations with their first film.

Gaga would play Quinn if a contract is reached. This new Quinn, on the other hand, resides in a distinct DC world from Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, who was most recently seen in 2021’s The Suicide Squad as well as a number of other films.
But wait, there’s more: according to sources, the sequel will also be a musical.
When Warner Bros. decided to make Joker, it wasn’t a foregone conclusion. The concept, a dark and sombre character piece set in a decaying metropolis in the late 1970s, was a Taxi Driver meets King of Comedy journey into lunacy. Commercial potential were judged insignificant, and just $60 million was allocated.
Joker was riding a wave of acclaim from autumn film festivals when it was released in October 2019, propelling the film to a record-breaking opening weekend, with box office experts revising their predictions every day. It was the fourth highest-grossing R-rated film of all time at the time of its release. The film was then nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including best picture, and won best actor (for Phoenix) and best score (for Hildur Guonadottir).
