Kate Middleton and Prince William are paying their respects and honored those who lost their lives in the West London tragedy.
On the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a memorial service. A fire blasted through the 24-story residential building in West London in 2017, killing 72 people.

The royal couple visited with survivors and those who had lost loved ones before the wedding began. The multi-faith ceremony included prayers, readings, and choir performances and was held at the foot of the now-abandoned tower. Grenfell United, a group of survivors and bereaved families fighting for change in the aftermath of the catastrophe, arranged the event.
Throughout the service, the future king and queen were solemn. They then placed wreaths and flowers on the graves of the victims.
The memorial this year was the first in three years. During the pandemic, Grenfell United organised memorial services on the anniversary of the tragedy in 2018 and 2019, before changing to individual visits to survivors and the bereaved.
Prince William, 39, and Prince Harry, 33, met with individuals affected three months after the disaster. According to reports, it was the deadliest residential fire in the United Kingdom since World War II.
The princes spent time with the Gomes family, which included parents Marcio and Andreia, as well as their young daughters Luana and Megan, while speaking with survivors. Andreia’s pregnant son Logan was delivered stillborn hours later after the family escaped the fire from their house on the 21st floor.

“Talk about your loss, promise me,” William told the girls at the time.
Later, Marcio told reporters, “The princes were amazing. They really knew what they were talking about. You could see that they meant what they were saying.”
