Kim Kardashian has been cleared of damaging Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress despite reports suggesting otherwise.

The reality TV actress stunned the globe when she wore the historic gown to this year’s Met Gala, but the firm from which she borrowed the gown claims she did not do any damage.

Earlier this week, she claimed on social media that she damaged the $4.8 million gown in her brief appearance.

The message included a before and after photo, which revealed that numerous gems were missing and the zip was stretched.

However, Ripley’s Museum has defended the SKIMS founder, claiming that the gown was returned in the same condition.

A rep for the company told: “A report written on the dress’s condition in early 2017 states, ‘a number of the seams are pulled and worn. This is not surprising given how delicate the material is. There is puckering at the back by the hooks and eyes,’ among other instances of damage.”

They went on to add that the dress had been shown in many locations across the world since the firm obtained it, and that it might have been damaged at any time.

Amanda Joiner, Ripley’s VP of Publishing and Licensing, was with Kim and the gown throughout the day of the Met Gala and added: “From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started in.”

Kim came out fighting for her side once the rumours initially surfaced, so she’ll be glad the corporation is on her side.

At the time, a person close to the star disputed the allegations, saying the photographs were “not accurate” and the assertions were “completely false.”

Kim reportedly wore the gown for less than 15 minutes while walking the red carpet, according to the insider, and it already bore signs of wear before Ripley’s bought it.

Kim publicly confessed that she had to lose 16 pounds to fit into the iconic gown.

To do so, she went on a strict sugar and carbohydrate-free diet, while also running on the treadmill and wearing a sauna suit twice a day.

Before the celebration, the reality star told: “I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history.

“I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do.”
