Zayn Malik soothed fans’ pain by sharing a video, singing a section of the band’s song You & I & I, which was liked by Louis Tomlinson. On the other hand, the latest podcast statements of Liam Payne have shattered One Direction fans’ aspirations of the boyband ever becoming friends or reforming.

On Saturday, the singer shared a short video of himself singing the song’s main hook. Zayn showed off his vocal talents in the new video by singing the song’s lyrics while dressed in an edgy grey T-shirt and his hair slicked back with a band. While he was still a member of One Direction alongside Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, the song was released nine years ago. Directioners, the band’s fans, adore the song and were ecstatic to see Malik strike the high note.

What will make Directioners happier, though, is learning that one of the band members has quietly backed up the singer. Zayn’s Instagram post of him performing the high note from You and I was liked by Louis Tomlinson.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the singer has quietly backed up the vocalist. Despite previously stating that he was not “ready” to reconcile, Louis liked his former bandmate’s pregnancy announcement post. Meanwhile, quick-thinking One Direction fans reacted to the news on social media, with many declaring that ‘zouis’ – a mashup of the duo’s names – was back on. “SCREAMING CRYING,” one wrote in all capital letters. “AND I THOUGHT WE WOULD NEVER SEE ZOUIS CONTENT AGAIN,” another tweeted in all capitals.

For those who are unaware, Zayn left One Direction in 2015, and his relationship with Louis has been tense since then, with the two not being seen communicating much.
