
Mariah Carey is being sued over the song ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You.’
- On Friday, Mariah Carey was sued by a songwriter
- Songwriter claimed he co-wrote a song with the same title five years earlier.
- In a case filed in federal court in New Orleans, Andy Stone seeks at least $20 million in damages from Carey.
Carey’s co-writer, and Sony Music Entertainment, are also under $20 million damage among other things, for copyright infringement and misappropriation.

Stone, who acts as Vince Vance with the country-pop band Vince Vance & the Valiants, accused the defendants of using his “popularity and unique style” illegally and causing confusion by recording the newer song without his consent.

The words and melodies of Carey and Stone’s songs differ.
Carey and Sony Music representatives did not immediately reply to calls for comment. (Reuters)
