Pakistani celebrities endorse Alia Bhatt’s stance on patriarchal rumours
- Alia Bhatt’s pregnancy announcement with Ranbir Kapoor made headlines.
- Raazi actress responded rumours Ranbir was going to bring her home on Instagram.
- Zara Noor Abbas and Durefishan Saleem said women don’t need to prove anything.
Alia Bhatt, the leading actress of Bollywood, has been making headlines since since she revealed that she and Ranbir Kapoor are expecting their first child together.
The Gangubai Kathiawadi actor expressed gratitude for the support she and Ranbir received after announcing that they were expecting a child.
However, the Raazi starlet addressed the rumours that Ranbir was going to go all the way to the UK to bring her home on her Instagram story. Alia took a stand in response to the sexist comments in the Indian media and criticised the patriarchal coverage of her pregnancy.
“Meanwhile we still live in some people’s heads. We still live in a patriarchal world. For your information, nothing has gotten delayed! No one needs to pick anyone up.”
“I am a woman, not a parcel! I do not need to rest at all but good to know you’ll have a doctor’s certification as well. This is 2022. Can we please get out of this archaic way of thinking! Now if you would excuse me, my shot is ready.”
Celebrities from Pakistan joined the chorus of approval for Bhatt after she responded in kind. Women don’t need to prove anything, as expressed by Zara Noor Abbas and Durefishan Saleem in their Instagram stories.
“Becoming pregnant and being an actress makes the society feel you are not good for work anymore. Well guess what, WOMEN are good enough for everything and anything and it’s time the dictators realise so. We don’t have to prove our motherhood and craft to any patriarchy,” Zara Noor Abbas wrote.
Durefishan Saleem, she said. “We can get married/make babies and still be kick a** fab. Marriage is a part of life not a [halt].” She also said people need to stop telling women that their career goals don’t align well with that.
Earlier on, in April of this year, celebrity couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt celebrated their marriage with close family and friends in a private ceremony.
