The United Kingdom was in full celebration mode. A “party at the palace” event featuring Diana Ross and Andrea Bocelli kicked off on Saturday to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne.
The queen, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, did not attend the two-and-a-half-hour ceremony in person, instead of watching it on television from Windsor Castle.

On the first day of the celebrations, she made two public appearances on the Buckingham Palace balcony in front of large crowds and then traveled to Windsor for a beacon-lighting ceremony.
