Rapper Kanye West tributes his Favorite Star at BET Awards

Rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, made an unexpected visit to honour Diddy, a fellow rapper and successful businessman who received the Lifetime Achievement Award this year.

Ye was unable to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards as a result of a slew of troubling online statements against his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her lover Pete Davidson. It was his first broadcast appearance since that time. It was revealed in April that the artist, who suffers from bipolar disorder, was considering seeking therapy to become a “better human and a better dad.”

As the Chicago rapper exited the stage following a speech by Babyface celebrating Diddy’s career, the audience at the BET Awards appeared equally excited and surprised. Ye was instantly the target of jokes and even some comic book villain comparisons on Twitter due to his perplexing costume, which included a grey Hood By Air jacket, a Black face covering, and sunglasses.

The rapper began with “How do we crown our kings?”

“How do we appreciate our kings? To think how far we could just make it off of inspiration, to hear the way somebody chopped a sample…”

Ye veered back to his personal life and work between praising Diddy for his contribution to hip hop during the remainder of the speech, which appeared to be spontaneous yet was surprisingly uncontroversial. Of course, he had to make reference to Diddy’s recent divorce, hinting that Diddy had influenced his decision to marry Kardashian.
