Prince William and Kate face big changes in Windsor
Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge’s impending move to Windsor will bring big changes for them and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
The family will have no room for a live-in nanny or overnight guests in their new, smaller home.
Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace has staff quarters and ten bedrooms. Adelaide Cottage is much smaller than the Cambridges’ current home, with only four bedrooms, allowing each child their own room but no room for visitors or staff.
Prince William and Kate’s new Grade II-listed home is on the 655-acre royal estate, putting them closer to Windsor Castle. Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton live 45 minutes away in Bucklebury.
The home has undergone extensive renovations in recent years, so the family can move in without much work.
According to The Sun, Prince William and Kate’s master bedroom features golden dolphins and ceiling rope decorations from a 19th-century royal yacht, creating a nautical-inspired theme.
The Duke and Duchess’ “modest” home has a private garden where George, Charlotte, and Louis can play.
Queen Victoria’s favourite breakfast spot was Adelaide Cottage, built in 1831 for William IV’s wife Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen. It was also Peter Townsend’s home.
