Prince William protected Prince Harry

• Prince William wasn’t informed of his parents’ unhappy marriage.
• The first child kept the parents’ arguments private.
• William was far more conscious of their relationship’s collapse.

Prince William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, was not informed of his parents’ unhappy marriage.

According to Simon McCoy, the Duke of Cambridge, the first child of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, kept their arguments private.

He [William] was far more conscious of it [Diana and Charles’ relationship collapse] because his was the shoulder she [Diana] was crying on, Mr. McCoy remarked in the previous episode of the To Di For Daily podcast.

He was defending her, and in a way, I believe he was also defending Harry from what was happening.

“William grew up very, very rapidly because he was the guy at the time, a very young man, but he was the one who she [Diana] was relying on to see her through,” she said.

“And that’s why you appear to be — elderly beyond his years is probably a good way of expressing it,” he said. He is a compassionate person at heart, something he undoubtedly acquired from his mother.

And he is perhaps more aware of that kind of pressure than Harry is, which could help to explain why Harry is where he is.
