Following her husband’s accession to the throne, Camilla, Queen Consort, greeted hundreds of enthusiastic supporters outside Buckingham Palace. Camilla, who was renamed Queen Consort after Charles’ accession to the throne, was greeted with applause by the spectators on Pall Mall.
Charles’ proclamation, held at the palace on Saturday morning, was attended by 200 privy counsellors, including new Prime Minister Liz Truss, who swore in the new King following the death of his beloved mother on Thursday.
Three shouts for the new King were carried out following the pronouncement.
Former UK Prime Ministers like as Tony Blair, David Cameron, and Boris Johnson also attended the proclamation ceremony at St James’s Palace. Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, is also a member of the council.
On Saturday morning, UK Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt and MP Dominic Raab arrived at St James’s Palace to attend the Accession Council.
Charles is now King, having been the longest-serving heir to the throne in British history. His 70-year apprenticeship as an heir has made him the best-prepared and oldest new ruler in history.
During his mother’s long reign, he saw generations of world leaders come and go, including 15 British prime ministers and 14 US presidents.
