Prince William and Kate Middleton seem determined to help local communities in ways that are different from how royals usually do things.

The well-liked royal couple came up with a new way to make a difference in the places they visit by combining cutting the ribbon with making money for people who need it.

The Prince and Princess of Wales tried out the new model, which is called a “community impact day,” on Thursday in North Yorkshire.

During their visit, the parents of three announced that £345,000 had been raised through a partnership between their Royal Foundation and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.

The money, which was given by local people and groups, will be used to boost long-term support for the mental health of young people in the town. It will be given to the places that need it most, as decided by a grant panel.

Royal fans like what Kate Middleton and Prince William are doing. One of them tweeted: “They raised £20 million and are giving that money away to worthy causes.”
