Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced co-founder of Miramax, was almost always mentioned in Quentin Tarantino films, before the #MeToo movement.

After buying Reservoir Dogs out of Sundance in 1992, he initially collaborated with the filmmaker on his breakout hit, and they continued to work together until the release of The Hateful Eight.

In Hollywood, his inevitable demise would signal the beginning of a day of reckoning when more and more influential men would be exposed for the reprehensible behavior they had engaged in behind closed doors.

Particularly many and severe crimes were committed by Weinstein. He has already been found guilty on one count of first-degree criminal sexual assault and one count of third-degree rape, but his trial is currently ongoing in Los Angeles.

In an interview for his television show Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, Tarantino was once more questioned about his friendship with producer Harvey Weinstein and what he knew about the man as a regular collaborator.

Despite the fact that none of the more serious complaints ever reached him, the director has long acknowledged that he was aware of his inappropriate behavior with women.

Additionally, he acknowledged that he had written off his acts of sexual harassment at the time and expressed sorrow for not coming out or talking with the producer about what had been happening.

Tarantino and Weinstein became close as a result of Weinstein’s regular work on the director’s movies; in fact, Tarantino later referred to Weinstein as a “f—ed up father figure” on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.

He told Wallace again what he thought of the circumstance, saying:

“I’d never heard the stories that later came out at all. I heard the same stories that everybody had heard. You know, frankly, to tell you the truth, I chalked it up to a Mad Men era version of the boss chasing the secretary around the desk. I’m not saying that’s okay. There was never any talk of rape or anything like that. The reason I didn’t was because that’s a real hard conversation to have because I…I felt it was pathetic. I felt what he was doing was pathetic. And, and I didn’t want to deal with his pathetic-ness.”

Wallace questioned the director about Weinstein’s reputation in Hollywood and what he was rumoured to have done to actresses.

Even though he was unaware of any “casting couch” or quid pro quo scenarios, the filmmaker commented on Weinstein’s unfavourable reputation, adding:

“I didn’t think it was ‘Okay, you do this for me or you’re not going to get this movie’. And I never heard any actresses say anything like that. It was just you know, you know, ‘Just don’t get in the back of a limo with him’. Again, it was easy – it was easy – it was easy to compartmentalize it to some degree. Anyway, I feel bad about…look, I feel bad about it now. But what I…but what I feel bad about is I feel bad that I did not have a man to man talk with him about it.”

You can watch full episodes of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? on HBO Max, and you can view the trailer for the movie She Said, which examines the New York Times investigation that revealed Weinstein’s allegations.
