Ryan  Coogler spoke about the future with our own Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub during an interview.

There is no doubting the popularity of Marvel films. While we as viewers can experience that grandeur on the big screen, sometimes we get a better idea of how huge the series is by looking at box office figures, budgets, and behind-the-scenes documentaries – aside from the numerous names we see on the screen while we wait for the post-credits sequences.

It’s safe to conclude that the director of each instalment, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s boss Ryan Coogler, is the person who is slammed with that intensity the most.

The director has been immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the past six years or so. After directing and writing Black Panther in 2018, she abandoned the sequel’s script after Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death in 2020 and returned to the director’s chair for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

It’s safe to conclude that the director of each instalment, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s boss Ryan Coogler, is the person who is slammed with that intensity the most.

“I’m a husband and a dad now, so I’m trying to live a long time, you know what I’m saying? And I hope to work a long time. And I love making movies, it fills me with a sense of joy that I hope every human can find in their life. And I hope can maintain that joy and make more things of various sizes. But truth be told, like right now, I’m just focusing on [‘Black Panther’] and getting this done, because it’s still a lot of work to do before this comes out to the world. And once that’s over, I’m going to sit and think about what’s next.”

The poorly-kept industry secret that Marvel Studios places a lot of pressure on its directors is one thing that cannot be disregarded.

Big stars like Patty Jenkins (director of Wonder Woman), Edgar Wright (Baby Driver), and Alan Taylor have left the firm because of its reputation for upholding rigid visual and narrative standards that stifle a director’s vision (The Many Saints of Newark). Early in his career, Coogler was forced to deal with that pressure.

After making his directorial debut in a major motion picture with the critically acclaimed drama Fruitvale Station, he returned Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa to the big screen with Creed, and then it was Marvel’s turn.

Coogler is attached to the direct action-adventure Wrong Answer and the TV series Scenes for Minors, which is based on his own experience growing up.

Despite the fact that the renowned director is looking forward to unwinding and spending quality time with his family, he won’t be gone for long.

The new Marvel Studios series Ironheart, a documentary about Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, and other projects are among the productions that Coogler is producing for the following years.
