José Andrés says He Accidentally ‘Burned the Eyelashes of My Daughters’
José Andrés does a lot for people, he is not a perfect parent.
On Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, Longer Tables with José Andrés, the chef had his three daughters, Carlota, 23, Inés, 21, and Luca, 18, as guests. They talked about what it’s like to grow up with a celebrity chef as a dad and to travel through his home country to film their new show, José Andrés and Family in Spain.
The founder of World Central Kitchen wrote in an Instagram caption, “This week on my podcast, Longer Tables, I had the most important guests I’ve ever had: my three daughters.” “They were supposed to tell stories from #behindthescenes of our new show, José Andrés and Family in Spain, but I think it turned into more of a roast of their dad!!
Carlota said she was worried about how close her father wanted to get to the huge sculptures at Las Fallas, a weeklong festival in Valencia where paper-mache and wood sculptures celebrating life are burned in the middle of the city.

She told her dad on a podcast that she feared he was attempting to murder them because they were so near to a sculpture. My face burned. Red. First-degree burns?
“You say I endangered you?” His daughter asked Andrés, 53.
Inés feared her eyelashes might burn again.
“Again? “Why? “Carlota?” Clarifying, Andrés said, “Wait. Why again? When?”
“Everyone knows this. Our family always cooks paella at home. We girls were making paella 5 years ago. Inés said, “Even on windy days, we cook paella.
“I’m managing the fire. I lean down to add wood, and a gust blows in. “Burnt eyelashes,” she recalled.
Carlota said, “She has the longest eyelashes in the family, therefore we need to know her secret.”
Inés warned, “Be careful preparing paella.” “I knew it?” His daughter said, “Yes, you knew.”
“I knew I burned your eyelashes,” he said Inés. She recommended cooking paella over an open fire, but advised caution.
Carlota said she had the same experience. “Dad, you burned my eyelashes.” Carlota told Andrés, “You did this,” though he didn’t remember when or how.
Lucia told her dad, “You once left me in a shop, but we can discuss that later.” Andrés repeats his daughter’s assertion, “Hold on. I left you at the store?
“Dad! Exclaimed Inés.
Lucia reminded her father, “Inés was primarily at blame, but you forgot to count heads.” After alerting his daughters that important people may be listening, one remarked, “We’re showing folks the real you, dad.”
Andrés tells his audience, “You may think I’m a monster since I burned my daughter’s eyelashes. My daughters were left at the store. I’m not perfect, but they happen.
Inés stated they are “dysfunctional at times” because her father described their dynamic that way. And that’s why we adore each other, Andrés said.
José Andrés and Family in Spain follows the philanthropist and his daughters in Spain.
On the six-episode docuseries, the family tours Barcelona, Madrid, and crucial locales in Andrés’ profession, like El Bulli. PEOPLE exclusively debuted the trailer earlier this month. It shows how the chef’s daughters interact with local experts and learn about their father’s and Spain’s history. Discovery+ is streaming José Andrés and Family in Spain.
