Kate Middleton Beams in Burgundy as She Arrives to Host Second Annual Christmas Concert
Kate Middleton hosts another royal Christmas gathering.
The Princess of Wales attended Royal Carols: Together at Christmas at Westminster Abbey on Thursday. The royal couple married there in April 2011.
Kate wore a burgundy Epinone coat dress with matching accessories. She entered past fake snow-covered evergreens and enormous lanterns.
She later joined Prince William, Prince George, 9, and Princess Charlotte, 7, at the carol event. Prince Louis, 4, stayed home.
Kate, William, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla attended the concert. Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Zara and her husband Mike Tindall, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Lord Frederick Windsor and his wife Sophie Winkleman, and Lady Gabriella Windsor and her husband Tom Kingston also attended.
Carole and Michael Middleton entered with Pippa.
The royals looked happy despite the launch of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix miniseries, which focuses on their complaints of maltreatment within the family and palace.
The celebration “celebrated the joy that human connection can offer,” according to the royal family.
Kate also saw some familiar faces from the past year, including 4-year-old Theo Crompton, who gave her a bunch of flowers in Wales in September. Princess Kate greeted him kneeling and holding his hands.
“Theo, lovely to see you again and so delighted you could join us tonight,” Kate’s office tweeted following the Christmas party.
In another tweet, they added, “Thank you to everyone who helped make #TogetherAtChristmas so amazing. It was great to celebrate with you all.”
Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September at 96, was remembered at this year’s Christmas programme. The service highlighted her lifelong ideals of empathy, compassion, and support. “These ideas are shared and represented by the inspirational guests invited to the Abbey from across the U.K.,” the palace added.
Craig David, Samantha Barks, Alfie Boe, and Melanie C performed alongside the Abbey Choir. Prince William, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Hugh Bonneville read.
Surprises await. Princess Kate and Ellie Goulding performed last year. The princess startled everyone when she played “For Those Who Can’t Be Here” with Tom Walker.
A royal source says Kate suggested the performance.
Royal source: “Music was vital to the Duchess during lockdowns.” “She knows how music can bring people together, especially in hard times. She wanted to join Tom’s performance for these reasons.”
Last month, Kate asked for the public’s aid in choosing the concert’s finale, polling between “Hark! The Herald,” “Joy to the World,” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Nearly 25,000 people voted, and “O Come, All Ye Faithful” won with 40.7%.
ITV will carry the concert on Christmas Eve. Catherine Zeta-Jones narrates.
