Kate Middleton received a new title from King Charles.
The new honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards is King Charles III’s son-in-daughter. law’s Since he married into the royal family in 2011, the Prince of Wales has been honoring that guards regiment on most St. Patrick’s Day holidays. His new royal role is a good fit for him.
Kate often wears a green outfit to the parade to greet the Irish Guards. A toast with Guinness and an appearance by the regimental mascot, an Irish wolfhound named Turlough Mor (also known as Seamus!), are also fun traditions.
Princess Kate, who is 40 years old, is taking over the job from her husband, Prince William. Queen Elizabeth made her grandson an honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2011, just two months before Kate and William’s royal wedding. For the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, the groom wore the red Irish Guards officer uniform.
Prince William now has his own royal job. King Charles named his son Colonel of the Welsh Guards, which fits with his new name, Prince of Wales. King Charles announced the royal title in a speech he gave on September 8, just one day after Queen Elizabeth died.
Queen Camilla also has a new title: her husband has confirmed her as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. This is an honor that Prince Andrew’s late mother took away from him.
