Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s photographer friend Misan Harriman
A photographer friend of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Misan Harriman, has described the bigotry he has encountered from black cab drivers in the United Kingdom.
Misan, 45, a close friend of the Sussexes, shared his experience with black cabs on Instagram on Wednesday, calling them a “persistent reminder of racism in the UK.”
He described in a video how he had to hail a black taxi after a ‘great meeting with someone in the fashion world’ since he was unable to obtain an Uber in London.
However, five eligible taxi drivers passed Mr. Harriman by, and the sixth one stopped but declined his 10-minute trip. In an earlier post, the photographer described how he had captured 14 black cabs passing him in a single day.
Sharing a snapshot of a line of black taxis, he wrote: “My experience with black cabs has been a constant reminder of racism in the United Kingdom for me personally.” It has been a humiliating experience for me for the entirety of my adult life. My record for the most yellow-lit black cabs passing me in a single day is 14, YES FOURTEEN!
