Royals to avoid Meghan Markle, Harry during Christmas
The Royal Family will remain united and avoid a tit-for-tat argument after the release of the second instalment of Harry and Meghan’s documentary.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made some “astonishing statements,” but an insider said the royals will “keep a dignified quiet” and avoid commenting on the show.
A royal source said: “Some astonishing claims have been made but the family are determined to stick together and maintain a dignified silence.
“They will not be dragged into a tit for tat row.”
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle declared open battle on the institution, the royal family came together.
In the latest Netflix documentary, Harry says he was “terrified” of his brother William when William had an angry outburst and said his father Charles had lied to him as Harry tried to negotiate leaving his royal role.
Harry said for the first time that it was his decision to stop working as a royal, not his wife’s. He also said that palace workers for the King and Prince of Wales were spreading “negative” information about him and his wife to make them look bad.
But tonight, William and the King put on a united front as they joined the Princess of Wales, the Queen Consort, George and Charlotte, and other senior royals at her annual “Together at Christmas” carol concert at Westminster Abbey.
The King and Prince of Wales will be given a full briefing on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s claims. This includes more claims that they were left alone while Meghan had a mental breakdown and courtiers fought a briefing war to discredit Harry and Meghan.
Harry said for the first time that it was his decision to stop working as a royal, not his wife’s. He also said that he was forced to go along with a joint statement that he did not sign, which contradicted rumours that William forced him out of the family.
He called the plot, which came out on the same day he had a fight with Charles, William, and the Queen at a meeting called the “Sandringham Summit,” a “lie to protect my brother.” He also said, “At this point, there was nothing else I could do.”
