Billy Bush claims his joke on Kendall Jenner was made with no malice
Billy Bush joked with the producers about Kendall Jenner’s hot Halloween outfit during an “Extra” taping on October 31.
According to a source speaking exclusively on Friday, “there was no malicious intent on Bush’s part as he was working through material in the show’s typical creative process.”
We’re told that the recording of Bush, 51, stating, “Kendall goes as Jessie and, believe me, there were a lot of woodies,” was leaked by the Daily Beast unintentionally earlier in the day. Bush seemed to be hinting that the “Toy Story”-themed outfit may awaken people.
The production firm for “Extra,” Telepictures, previously told Page Six that the flippant comment was never intended to be heard by the general public.
The creative process of the show “allows the flexibility to test different jokes and banter, as with many types of products in the entertainment sector,” a spokeswoman stated.
In the end, some content is eliminated, including statements that would be deemed inappropriate for broadcast television.
On October 31, Bush made a much more subdued reaction regarding Jenner’s costume, saying, “It’s going to be impossible to see ‘Toy Story’ the same way ever again. As the redheaded cowgirl Jessie, Kendall dressed in a crop top, chaps, and denim shorts.
The 27-year-old Jenner has not commented on the criticism Bush has gotten, and her representative did not immediately answer to request for a statement.
Bush’s statement has drawn particular attention because the entertainment writer is known for making offensive comments about Hollywood ladies.
The former “Access Hollywood” presenter has previously come under fire for remarks about soap star Arianne Zucker that he and former President Donald Trump made in 2005 and that were brought up again during the 2016 US presidential election.
“Yes! The Donald succeeds! On the tape, which was leaked, Bush was heard saying. My dude, whoa. You must examine her. Give her the green light. You must give it a thumbs up… God, oh God!
At the time, Trump, then 76, responded by saying he could do anything to women in Hollywood, even “grab ’em by the p—y.”
Bush remarked, “Looking back on what was said on that bus, I wish I had changed the subject,” in an effort to make amends for his involvement in the conversation.
I wished I had asked if anyone wanted water. or “It appears that it will rain.” He enjoyed watching TV and competing. Can you believe the ratings on whatever? is something I could have said. I lacked the courage necessary to pull it off.
