Harry Hamlin says Lisa Rinna made the “correct decision” when she left The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

On the red carpet for the premiere of 80 For Brady at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Friday night, the actor, 71, speaks to PEOPLE about Rinna’s decision to leave the hit Bravo series after eight seasons.

“[It was] the proper move to make at this moment after eight years,” he exclusively tells that, “I believe she went it as far as she could and enhanced the show.”

“It’s now time to move on,” he adds. “Eight years is a long time to do anything, especially the same thing over and over. It’s time to get going.”

Rinna, 59, announced her departure from RHOBH in an exclusive statement on Thursday, following numerous seasons of delivering snarky one-liners, drama-filled moments, social media messiness, and self-deprecating lip comedy.

“This is the longest work I’ve ever had in my 35-year career, and I’m grateful to everyone at Bravo and everyone involved in the show,” Rinna remarked. “It’s been a fantastic eight-year run, and I’m looking forward to what’s next!”

Rinna’s contract expired at the end of last season, prompting the decision. She and Bravo mutually decided not to return to RHOBH after considering her alternatives and business duties. Rinna joins the series in the fifth season, which debuted in 2014.

Looking ahead, Hamlin tells  that he and his wife have a lot of initiatives planned for the future. “We’re both quite busy. I’ve got [80 for Brady] and Mayfair Witches coming out, and she’s already talking to studios about starting something new, so I think we’ll be very busy in the next months “he claims.

Two weeks before Rinna announced her departure from RHOBH, Hamlin revealed that his longtime girlfriend frequently got in trouble on the show because she was not afraid to speak up.

“She does her work well. Her responsibility is to be on time, to communicate honestly and authentically with the people on the show “In this week’s issue, he stated.

“Her hot button issue, I believe, is unfairness, or when someone else is not acting honestly,” Hamlin continued. “And this leads to a lot of problems. However, it also benefits the show.”

Hamlin also disclosed his biggest mistake about his wife, Delilah, 24, and Amelia, 21, since she joined the show of RHOBH in 2014. “I’ve known her for over 30 years… She has never once told a lie in all of that time “He stated. “And something that wasn’t entirely and completely truthful.”
