Jack Black hints at ‘School of Rock’ sequel
The 53-year-old actor previously said it was unlikely there would be a sequel to the 2003 music comedy classic, in which he plays the dishonest substitute teacher and would-be rock star Dewey Finn.
However, rumours of a sequel surfaced last year, with Paramount reportedly eager for a new instalment.
Now, in a joint interview with his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass, Jack claimed that he is thinking about both a sequel to the duo’s 2006 cult musical film, “Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny,” and to “School of Rock 2.”
Jack said on SiriusXM: “Yup. Both of them. Breaking news. We’re thinking about doing both of those.”
Kyle then quipped: “It’s a hybrid – a school of D.”
Back in 2012, Jack claimed ‘School of Rock’ director Richard Linklater had a different vision for a second movie to his, but he didn’t rule out a sequel entirely.
He explained at the time: “I wouldn’t want to do it without the original writer and director, and we never all got together and saw eye-to-eye on what the script would be.
“It was not meant to be, unfortunately. But never say never.”
