Jennifer Coolidge gets bleeped, standing ovation at Golden Globes’23

• Though Tanya McQuoid is no longer with us, her memory lives on.
• Thanks to her depiction of Tanya, a beloved character on HBO’s popular series The White Lotus.
• Jennifer Coolidge received the 2023 Golden Globe Award for best supporting actress.

Jennifer Coolidge  gave her acceptance speech after receiving the award, Coolidge became emotional as she thanked Ryan Murphy, who she cited as one of five people who had helped her stay in the business for 20 years by doing these “small things.”

In addition to Niecy Nash, Claire Danes (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Under the Banner of Heaven), and fellow White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza, there were other nominees in this category (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story).

Then she added, “Michael Patrick King you kept me going for a long time,” after stating that those gigs “would only be enough until the next one, the next one.”

Then Reese [Witherspoon] would get me with Legally Blonde, and the Weiss brothers would keep me going with like five American Pies. “I milked that to gold, I mean I will still go for six or seven, whatever they want,” she remarked.

She began by thanking her agency, then went on to thank Mike White, the man behind White Lotus, and laud him for his work, which eventually led him to tears.

I just want to thank Mike White for giving me hope. Even though you killed me off, it does not matter because you truly changed my life in a million different ways — my neighbor are not being mean to me, things like that — and none of those people, I was never invited to one party on my hill and now everyone is inviting me!

Before proceeding to praise the director and writer, Coolidge said, “It is to you Mike White, this is something all of you.” “If you do not know Mike White, you should know that he worries about the planet, people, and animals, while you worry about them. He is one of the best persons ever.

Her speech also received huge applause and a standing ovation from the audience in attendance at the event held at the Beverly Hill Hotel.

The 60-year-old actress — who also won her first primetime Emmy this past September for her role as Tanya — almost passed on the job entirely because she didn’t feel like she was in “fighting shape” after gaining weight during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine
